04/06/08 ~ Nice number ~ Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

Hehehehe... very nice date ya for this year...
We celebrated our 6th Anniversary by having dinner at Jack Place's Restaurant in Ang Mo Kio. Usually we went there to celebrate w/ the exception of last year, where we had our dinner at Cafe Swiss. And this time, it's not only the two of us... We brought Reever along to our dinner... Hehehehe....

Three of us met at Ang Mo Kio MRT and walked down to the place. Hm... it supposed to be a memorable dinner.. yet.. we really had one.. although didn't mean good one.. hahahaha... and it's spoilt by the waiters - who can barely understand English. One guy took our order and he messed up quite lots of things. I actually ordered Mixed Grill for my hubby - his favourite dish there, Chicken & Mushroom spaghetti & Chicken Cordon Bleu for me - what a greedy wife... hahahaha... - Kid's meal, Chicken & Fries, for Reever, and Chef Salad for all of us. I also asked for 1 warm water and 2 cold water. And what served us were... first.. a lady brought us 2 warm water and 1 cold water. When I told her that I actually wanted 2 cold water instead of 2 warm water, she was smiling and still serving us the 2 warm water - I assumed she didn't understand what I said in English. Only after I told her in Chinese, then she understood and she took back the warm water and brought another cold water for us. Then our food came. The salad and kids meal were perfect, and so does my Cordon Bleu. But we felt something amiss when the guy brought us the Seafood spaghetti (instead of Chicken & Mushroom), and my Cordon Bleu together. There was no sign that the Mixed Grill was coming or on the way. I thought, they deliberately arranged that so that we could slowly enjoy our two dishes first. And when he brought the wrong spaghetti, well.. I thought.. it doesn't matter.. Anyway, I also can eat it.. So I didn't say anything to him. Just when I almost finished the food in my plates, the guy came to us and he wanted to clear my hubby's cutleries. I was looking at my hubby and he was looking at me too... I told him right away.. "Excuse me, our mixed grill has not come yet." He smiled very fast in respond to my word and say sorry about it. He also said that he would replace the cutleries w/ the clean one soon. He went in to check into our order too 'cause when he came back, he brought his menu pad and asked us once again.. "Excuse me, which grilled do you want? Chicken grill? Or beef grill?" Haiz... I knew it! I knew that the guy didn't note down the mixed grill that I ordered. So I told him in Chinese that we actually have ordered it at the first place, even the first thing that I ordered. And I also told him about the wrong spaghetti that he brought to us. He realized that he has made mistakes. He kept apologizing for what he has done and looked very worried too if we were going to complain to his manager or make a scene there which would make his boss know about his bad service. I also had nothing to say already. Lucky my hubby has eaten quite lots of spaghetti and salad before that and he decided not to order his mixed grill - again, which is his favourite dish. Not long after that, the guy came to us and brought a glass of orange juice as a compliment to my hubby and apologized once again. Haiz... lucky we were in good mood.. otherwise we could have complained it to the Manager. Some more it was our special day, not just a normal dining out. We just finished up and paid the bill and got out from the place.

It was in newspaper recently about the front-line staff who can barely understand even a simple English. Now I encountered it myself. If you notice, there were less Singaporean now working in service line. If you visit shops like Bossini, Hang Ten, you can find more people from Phillipine working there. And If you notice the food court in some shopping malls, you can find lots of them are from China. I just wonder, how my brother and his family will be shocked on how much different Singapore is only in less than 2 years. Not just changing in Singapore population, but also changing in price. Anyway... that's life!
