Finally it rains! Yayyy!!!!
It's been dry these last two months, something unusual for a small tropical country like Singapore. Before that we had rain almost everyday (wet October to December). Sometimes we even blamed the rain for the low revenue gained from the outdoor Bar at my working place hehe...
So when there was little rain since mid January, I thought that heaven had been kind to us for giving such a 'cool' weather. Every morning on my way to work I expressed my gratitude for the dry and 'cool' weather. I didn't have to pull my long pants from the wet grasses, didn't have to watch my steps to accidentally splash the puddle of mud, didn't have to dry my slipper and shirt out, and so on.

It continued on until the grass turned brown, the trees became bald from its withered leaves, the pond became shallow and eventually dry, and the government started worrying about our limited water supply.
At office colleagues conversed about taking less bath. With friends we joked about taking a bath using the washing clothes' soapy water (as not to waste). Others worried about possibility of increase in water usage fee.
So this morning, when I went for a toilet break, I was looking at Facebook status. Apparently some area in Singapore had been blessed with rain. I told myself, "When will our turn come??"
Suddenly I heard pitter-patter sound from the toilet's window. Wow!!! It came here too! I was very exciting and faster finished my business. I opened my room's curtains wide opened, also my son's room's curtains as I wanted the room to enjoy the view too. And together we witnessed the falling rain.
I ran towards the balcony to watch at greater view. I moved forward trying to touch and let the water dropped on my opened palm. The clouds were greyish and dark. I took a deep breath to enjoy that significant rain smell hhhmmmmmm........ "I'm missing you so much...." whispered me to the falling rain.
Suddenly I became poetic trying to update my Facebook status hahaha.. But after a while the sound stopped. When I took a peek, the drop was stopped too. Oh, that excitement lasted very short. My feeling changed to disappointment very soon. But at least it dropped by for a while, I consoled myself. Suddenly it rained heavily, and after a while it stopped again. "Ah, maybe they took turn to wet the whole Singapore," again I consoled myself.
I could see one by one my friends posting about the rain in their areas too. Now it was raining on and off. At least, it came by and brought me with short excitement. Thank you, thank you, and thank you. Please come again! I love and miss you so much Rain! :)
Hello mam, send some rain to India too. It's been dry for quiet a long time now haha.May rain love you too and fall time and again for you.
ReplyDeleteAh ina Kipchu? India too? I have no skill and power to send the rain there but I can pray for you that it will rain soon. Thank you for your wish ya :)
DeleteMadam Rima,
ReplyDeleteYou should have realized that Singaporean rain is allergic to Facebook because the moment you opened to update the status, it stopped. Hehe.
If dance is for rain, Thais would not know how to dance I think. There has been no rain even after 8 months being here. haha.
Hahaha... Maybe you are right Dumcho :D It stopped after I wanted to press the button to update my status hehe...
DeleteYes, I heard it's been drought too in Thailand and Malaysia. I hope it will rain soon at your place. Let's pray! :)
Last time, few weeks ago, there was farewell drizzle, bidding farewell to winter, here. Since then, weather has been good and favourable la. Next time when rain comes with all its potential here, I will also make my own post because I also love the rain like you do. :-)
ReplyDeleteSure Sonam, express what you feel in words. For me, it made me feel much better :)
DeleteNature comes to life once again with the rain - the power of rain beyond the reach of words. I too love rain but so heavy to wash away people's crops and disconnect high-ways. Anyway nice thought madam Rima na.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Sherab! Something that is too much or too little is usually not good. I understand how you feel as it brought flood to my hometown too sometimes and worried me so much. Just pray that everything will be alright :)
DeleteRain is cold but it brings you joy, and comforts you to a good sleep :)
ReplyDeleteYou are true Yessi :) Hope you are enjoying the cold weather in your place now!
