Yesterday it was raining since morning 'til afternoon time. The famous Orchard Road was flooded because of that. Some places was flooded badly. It really reminded me of my hometown and how suffered it was when it happened.
I had Mexican food for lunch with a friend. Just an impulse decision to go there and eat. Food taste is getting common for me, perhaps I eat it too often?
After work, I immediately went back home. I ate one bacang made by my hubby's grandma and another one made by my colleague's mother. Both taste good. But I couldn't eat it too much as I'm easy to get fat :)
So, after took a bath, thought of watching a drama, just an episode. Already thought of lying on my bed early as a result of waking up early as to be able to catch the other drama online (I was trying to catch it the night before but the internet was overcrowded so the speed was damn slow, that's why I decided to wake up at 6am yesterday morning).
After an episode, it urged me to watch another one, 'cos the story was related closely and made me wanted to watch more. So after that episode, there were 2 episodes left to the end, and apparently I kept watching it until 1am and it's finally over.
After watching few Taiwanese drama, I feel that most drama have common story. It involves a lead female star with 2 other lead male stars (usually both rich and famous), and another supporting woman who will come as third party. Haiz.. And all stories must go one big round before both lead male and female star would actually get together and result in happy ending.
Sometimes it reminds myself to be lucky that I don't have to face much dramatic stories in life, and can find my other half without much problems. Well, yes I had failed relationship too in the past, but at least it still leads me to the happy ending. Although the lead male star is not as rich and famous as what they always have in movies, but have a peaceful in mind and feel secured is something that can't be replaced of. I mean, what's the point of getting rich and handsome partner who is not loyal to you? At least I'll have less problem in that... :D
Today there was another short article written by Mr Geoff Tan at mypaper, the story of have the foresight of a content fisherman. The story is as per follow: Complimenting the fisherman of the quality of his catch, the businessman asked how long it took to haul in the fish. "Only a little while," the fisherman replied. The young man asked: "Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?". The content fisherman said: "This is enough to support my family's needs. I don't need any more."
"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
"I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a walk with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my buddies. I have a full and busy life."
The young chap scoffed: "I have a Harvard MBA and can help you. Spend some more time fishing and, with the proceeds from your catch, buy a bigger boat."
"Using the proceeds earned from hauling in more fish with the bigger boat, you can buy several boat, and eventually, you own a fishing fleet. So, instead of selling your catch to a middleman, you can sell the fish directly to a processor, and open youe own cannery eventually. You will then be in control of the product, processing and distribution. You will have to leave this small village and move to a city to run your expanding enterprise. This will take 15 to 20 years."
The fisherman asked: "But what then?"
"That's the best part. When the time is right, you announce an IPO, sell your company's stock and become very rich."
"Then what?"
"Then you would retire, move to a small village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a walk with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings and sip wine, and play guitar with your buddies."
The morale of the story is: when we rush to fulfil our financial goals, we sometimes do not realise that we already have what we hope to achieve at the end of the day. While it's true, this does not apply to some of us, that "roses" were already there at the start. Perhaps we have been too busy scaling up the career ladder to notice the roses strewn accross our path.
It is sad when we hear of people who fail to reach their destinations and who chalk up a host of health complications and disappointments along the way.
Good story right? So.. We should remind ourselves over and over again to feel contented with what we have. Don't always look up to see what we don't have, but instead to be grateful and content with what we have.
Today, I wanna congratulate my bro and sis-in-law who celebrate their 16th Wedding Anniversary, hope they will always be blessed with good health, prosperity, smooth career, full of love and luck! Have a great day everyone!
At the same time, I offer my condolescence to my sis and bro-in-law, for the leaving of the father of my bro-in-law 3 days ago. The body was cremated this morning. Hope that his father can be rebornt in better life.
